Children & Young People presenting to Primary Care 
Pulse Oximeters  and neionatal attachments  The ICB made available pulse oximeters with neonatal attachments for Primary Care Teams, to enable a more complete interpretation of clinical presentations. Practices should get their equipment ready and know where it is kept for easy access. Practices can contact the ICB if they have any issues regarding the equipment  hweicbenh.cypteam@nhs.net

Promote the HWE Healthier Together website

The HWE Healthier Together website provides advice for parents, young people and pregnant women, and clinical resources to support healthcare professional. Please ensure that your practice is signposting to the HWE Healthier Together website in the following ways:

  • Waiting room screen display
  • Link to the Healthier Together website on the practice/PCN website.
  • Refer to the Healthier Together website during appointments
  • Create an accurx template for parents that links to the HT website.

Consultant Connect 

National Paediatric Advice and Guidance can be accessed via the consultant connect app, available throughout the day.

  • West Herts Consultant connect/ Paeds Hotline is available between 12noon-2pm at West Herts Hospitals (WHTH): 01923436672.
  • Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) consultant advice line can be used to get consultant advice 12.30pm-1.30pm: 01279 652556 for switchboard (GP referral line bypass number), 0 for operator and ask for the Paediatric Hot-week consultant.
Childhood flu vaccinations Ensure you have processes in place to carry out recall for your 2 and 3-yearolds for their flu vaccinations and remember you can give them opportunistically when they visit the surgery.
